Fear of Failure.

I have made it no secret that one of my biggest fears is failure.

This particular TED talk grabbed my attention because it talked about pushing your own boundaries and losing the fear of failure. I really enjoyed listening to what Regina Dugan had to say because I found her passion to be almost infectious -- it made me really think about my fears, question why I have them, and think about what I could do overcome them.

What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

I would ...

>> Put myself out there and either search for a better job, or start my own business. I like the idea of working at home, I have always questioned my abilities. I hate being underemployed, but always fear that I my skills, knowledge and abilities aren't good enough and I will be fired.

>> Get over my fear of driving. I have had my license for 10 years, I am a good driver, but I hate driving to places I am not familiar with. I get frustrated, then panic and hate the feeling of being lost and not knowing where to go. As a result, I know I miss out on a lot of things by not just jumping in the car and driving wherever.

  2. Hmm that is a good question to ask myself... I think if I had no fear I would go live/work overseas once I'm done my translation degree.

    Great post!!

  3. I know your feeling about your job situation. I am happy that I have a job but at the same time, I feel like I have already failed. I graduated August 2009 with an MBA in Finance but my paychecks and career show nothing. I don't want to work for myself because those student loans are actually growing even though I'm not in school any more. Hubby gets pretty depressed about those loans too. I have been praying and using a placement agency to find something better. I believe in miracles and I'm waiting for God's timing. Esther Norine Designs

    1. I graduated a few months before you did - its a tough economy and unfortunately, these days, it seems like it doesn't matter what education you have. More and more I have noticed that it all depends on your connections and who you know. I believe that everything happens for a reason, I am sure the right job will find its way into your life when its meant to - I hope everything works out for you!

  4. I have always hated having to drive to new places--what's helped me is such a simple, practical little thing: my GPS! The husband and I bought our GPS for a road trip and sine then it's really helped me go so many places I probably wouldn't have been brave enough to drive to on my own otherwise. And I know you really shouldn't trust a GPS unconditionally, but pretty much I do. :P
