Keep It Simple.

I have been playing around with a new design for awhile now, and tonight I finally decided to take the plunge. This one has been a little more challenging than others because I have had to move html sections around to get what I want. Thank goodness for google and a few great tutorials I found to help along the way. Things aren't perfect yet, but hopefully I can complete everything over the next week.

A big reason for the change (again) is that I want to keep this design simple. You know that saying ... keep it simple stupid. As much as I love all the fancy dancy backgrounds, etc, it becomes too much. I hope to step things up a notch or two around here, and I think that a new, simple design will help with that. I hope!

Have a great weekend!

For Bloggers // Creative Market.

At the moment, Creative Market is one of my favorite websites.

Why?

Each week they offer some free goods! And I heart free goods! Sometimes it's a free font, other times its some amazing clip art. Regardless of what they offer, nine time out of ten, its something pretty awesome that I can use for my blog!

What's your favorite website to grab freebies off of?

Inspire Me: Naturally Me.

The prompt for this week's inspiration board link-up is:

"Naturally Me"

I hate to admit it, but I really struggled with this week's prompt. It really made me think...! I was hoping to take this inspiration board a different direction, but in the end I thought the best representation of "me" are the photos from my instagram account.

Oh bugger.

I previously mentioned the other day that I thought I had injured my Achilles tendon -- I had no solid proof because it was self diagnosed based on what I read on the internet (big mistake sometimes!).

Yesterday I had a chiropractor appointment and he confirmed that I injured it. Oh bugger! I also discovered the reason why. Apparently my ankle had minimal movement and the muscles in my calf were beyond tight, thus the tendon had to pick up all the slack from all the exercise I had been doing.

Now, I am not allowed to run for at least the next two weeks. Its been a week today, and I still cannot wear running shoes because of the pain. Super annoying! The lesson learned ... it is VERY, VERY important to stretch before and after!

Other than taking it easy, resting my foot, things have been pretty quiet around here! I started watching Season One of Arrow ... I love it! A lot of the show is filmed in Vancouver too!

Inspire Me Favorite: Deanne.

This week, Elle and I have chosen to feature the lovely Deanne from Hot Mess Mama. The prompt for last week's inspiration board link-up was "All that Glitters." I love Deanne's inspiration board because not only has she found some amazing images that fit perfectly with our prompt, she  has included my favorite color, pink!

"When I think of the word 'glitter', I think of super girly things. I think of pink pretties. And I think of makeup. This was my inspiration for my board."

Thank you Deanne, Haley & Sarah for linking up with Elle and I this past week!

As promised, the prompt for next week is "Naturally Me"

We look forward to seeing all of your inspiration boards next Wednesday!

Weekly Wrap-Up.

This past weekend was a long weekend for us folks in Canada. Too bad I had to work for all of it. I wasn't supposed to, but had to at the last moment. While the extra money was nice, I wasn't too pleased about having to work.

Somehow I managed to hurt my Achilles tendon on Friday, I'm not sure how. Today, four days later, it still hurts. I cannot wear my runners or even my Uggs. Perhaps I should go to the doctor, but I have been told that ice will help a ton.

My mom and I went shopping on Sunday looking for a dress I could wear to this summer wedding. I finally settled on this cute black, lace dress. Now I just have to figure out what else I am going to wear with it.

A Favorite Photo.

My boyfriend took this photo of me back in the summer of 2010.

I normally hate most photos of myself and I don't have a really good reason why this photo is a favorite, but it is.

Happies & Crappies.

Happies

1. The weather this past week has been pretty amazing; we've had a day or two of rain, but thankfully it didn't stick around too long.

3. I have been keeping up with our new exercise plan - getting outside and going for a walk/run for at least an hour.

4. We had some new link-ups with our inspiration board link-up, so excited! I hope it continues to keep growing!

5. I am currently taking part in two great giveaways -- a chance to win an iPad mini and a chance to win a pair of firmoo sunglasses. There are still a few days left to enter! Participating in these giveaways have brought some new faces to my blog, which I love!

CRAPPIES

1. I somehow managed to pay my credit card bill twice, ugh. It's not the end of the world, just sucks that I didn't catch it before $2000 left my bank account. Stupid!

2. I am beyond exhausted this week, which translates into me being VERY clumsy. And when I am clumsy, I always manage to hurt myself. Today, the back of my ankle area hurts like a bitch every time I take a step while wearing my runners, I have no idea what's wrong with it. I also managed to walk into the metal part on our sliding door this afternoon -- ouchhh!

3. I took today off work so that I could spend the day shopping with my mom. We had to postpone the shopping trip because she has this nasty stomach bug. I was looking forward to buying some new clothes, but I do not want to get what she has. No thanks!

4. I hate that all my favorite shows are coming to an end for the season.

3. It's May Long Weekend and I was supposed to have a "long weekend" ... now I have to work... I'm not too thrilled about this!

9. Vacations.
10. Relaxing at home.

What makes you happy?

For Bloggers // Websites to Create Inspiration Boards.

In case you missed it, last week I shared my top 5 favorite websites to find photos online. These websites also happen to be great for finding photos for inspiration boards, *hint* *hint* ...!

With round 2 of our bi-weekly inspiration board link-up happening tomorrow, I thought I would share my top 5 favorite websites to create inspiration boards (also known as photo collages on these websites). I personally like to use a certain photo editor program that I have installed on my computer, but I know that not everyone has access to it! It can also be a little more time consuming  whereas these online photo collages are quick and really simple to use!

The following 5 websites all have free options, some more than others. While Picmonkey is one of my favorite websites, not all their photo collage options are free. Same with Ribbet. Photovisi, Fotor and iPiccy, on the other hand, all have free options! My best suggestion to you is to check them all out and find out which one works best for you!

PS. All images are linked to their websites.

Weekly Wrap-Up.

First things first ... Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there!

The weather this past week has been incredible. Every night, we took every opportunity to go outside and walk around. Starbucks also had this "happy hour" 1/2 special, so almost every afternoon we were getting coffee frap's -- so delicious!

When we came home Thursday evening, we could hear this weird crackling noise in the house. At first, D thought maybe he had left the oven on, which he hadn't. Then he looked and noticed that the inner glass of our side window on our patio was completely shattered. It's a two-pane window and the outer glass was completely fine. So random. Thankfully a glass dude showed up on Friday and took down the broken glass bits - he figured there was an impurity in the glass, thus why. Who knows! Now we wait 2 weeks for them to order a replacement.

Favorite Snapshots:
+ Coffee frappuccino's from Starbucks.
+ Watching the sunset from the pier.
+ Afternoon stroll around the neighborhood.

My Wantlist: Joseph Joseph.

1 // 2 // 3 // 4

As of lately, one of my favorite kitchen brands is Joseph Joseph. Ever since I got these amazing nested kitchen utensils for Christmas this past year, I have been itching to get more of their products! We are in need of a new cutting board and I love the idea of having a different cutting board for meat, vegetables, etc.

Dear window, WTF! I come home at 2:30 pm to pick up D, we're gone for 2.5 hours and we come back to this? Seriously? I don't get it. Inspire Me Favorite: Haley.

Last week, Elle and I launched our new inspiration board link up, Inspire Me. The prompt that we picked was "Spring Fever." In case you missed my post last week, here is my spring fever inspiration board.

I love spring, especially this year because the weather has been so beautiful! I also love to breath in the fresh spring air, there is nothing like it! I love waking up to the birds signing and the sunshine peaking through my blinds at 6:00 am. My board was inspired by a few of the things I love to enjoy -- strawberries, melonade, cherry blossoms, etc!

Now, as promised, our favorite inspiration board from last week:

Created by Haley from HaleyHere

"My board was inspired of course, by "spring fever" in the traditional sense, classic red lips (the vehicle of kisses), April showers and May flowers!" -- Haley

Thank you Haley for being the very first to link up with us, and for helping spread the word out about our new link-up!

There are so many possibilities when creating an inspiration board, and we would love for you all to link up for our second link-up, which will go live next Wednesday, May 15th. To give you a head start....

the prompt for next week is: "All That Glitters

If you aren't too sure where to start, I posted my top 5 websites to find photos (for your blog and/or inspiration boards). I have already started searching for a few of my favorite photos and there are tons out there! Don't forget, if you need some help putting your inspiration board together, the PicMonkey website has some great collage layouts that you can use, for free!

What I Do + What I Fear the Most.

I am a tad behind, so I thought I would kill two birds with one stone and catch up with day 6 and day 7 of the blog everyday in may challenge.

If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer the question, 'what do you do'? Oh jeez, considering I work 2 jobs, 6 days a week, this is a tough question. When I am not at work, this is what I do...

+ I am girlfriend extraordinaire. Oh yes!
+ I am a part-time maid, grocery shopper, cook and chauffeur.
+ I am a part-time puppy-sitter to my family dog.
+ I am a part-time blogger.
+ I am a sometimes exerciser. I try.
+ I am a full-time procrastinator. See previous point!

Last, but not least: the thing(s) you're most afraid of...

+ Earthquakes, terrified of them. We live on the 22nd floor of an apartment. That's a long, long way down...!
+ Tsunamis. I occasionally have had nightmares of big waves, and trying to get away.
+ Rodents. My parents house always used to get mice, I hated waking up to hearing them in the wall, or worse, in my bedroom.

For Bloggers // Favorite Websites to Find Photos.

I love finding new images on the internet! I also living finding new websites that help me find these particular images. Normally when I find a new image that inspires me, or I just like, I like to pin it on one of my many pinterest boards. Ps. If you aren't already, you can follow me on pinterest here.

When searching for images to use in my blog posts, or in my "spring fever" inspiration board, I have several go-to websites that I like to visit first...

Image sources:
1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5

... and if all else fails, I sometimes also like to search for images via google images. Through google's image search, I have found so many other great websites that I never knew existed. It's probably how I found a few of my favorite blogs/websites!

What are your favorite websites to find photos?

A Blogger I Adore!

Today is day 5 of the blog every day in may challenge ... that means I have to publicly profess my love and devotion to one of my fellow bloggers.

There are a number of blogs that I regularly read, but there is definitely one that stands out the most! I wouldn't say that her and I are "friends," but I do adore her and her blog! The person that I am talking about is Dana from the Wonder Forest

Dana's blog is probably one of the first that I discovered back when I started blogging in 2011/2012. First of all, she is a fellow Canadian! Second, she is crazy talented...!

+ She is an incredible blogger, I am always bookmarking or pinning all of her posts!
+ She is an amazing designer and has created her own design shop, Envye
+ She has recently built her own blogger app, BlogGo. PS. the app is amazing!

Hands down, Dana inspires me to be a better blogger! Her incredible blog designs also inspire me to take my blog's design to the next step. I know I have a long way to go, but I would like to think I am doing alright..!

Weekly Wrap-Up.

Holy smokes, I cannot believe April has come and gone. I am thankful that the month flew by because I worked every day of it, and then some..!

Today was my first official day off work, heck ya! I almost had to work, but I said no. Part of me felt bad, but when being asked on Friday afternoon to work on Sunday, especially when they could have asked me a week or two ago, sorry, it's not happening - I needed a day off.

Today, the weather has been absolutely gorgeous! It feels like its 26°C and we have taken every opportunity to get outside. The alarm went off at 7:45 am and we've been going, going, going ever since. It's now 8:00 pm and my legs are exhausted!

Favorite Snapshots:
+ Walking through our back alley on our way to get SUSHI!
+ It's May 1st, time to get my exercise on!
+ Attempted some cucumber, mint and lemon water. Not bad.
+ The sun is shining, its really hot and I wish I could jump into the ocean for a swim!

Life is too Short.

Day 4 of the blog everyday in may challenge is your favorite quote and why you love it. I honestly have so many favorite quotes, it was hard to narrow it down to just one.

I have this folder on my computer full of various internet images that I saved a few years back when I was big into the whole MySpace thing. In that folder I stumbled upon the below quote and knew I had found it!

I decided to be "creative" and spice the quote up with a photo I took a few years ago when I was in Hawaii with my family. I think it turned out pretty good if you ask me!

Now the tough question, why do I love it? Because its so simple and true. I don't think I need to say too much more than that!

Things that make Me Uncomfortable.

I had full intentions to participate in the "blog every day in may challenge" -- I am not off to a great start because I have already missed the first two days!

Anyways, day 3 of the challenge is things that make you uncomfortable...

+ Going some place I am unfamiliar with, alone.
+ Driving any place I am unfamiliar with. I have zero sense of direction.
+ Driving in the pouring rain, at night (especially on the highway).
+ Being social or having to make small talk with people I don't know, or don't like.
+ Being put on the spot.
+ Being criticized in front of others.
+ Being in very large crowds of people.
+ Confrontation.
+ Sleeping naked.
+ Talking about myself.
+ Fear of failure.
+ Photos of myself.
+ Being naked around anyone other than my boyfriend.
+ Public speaking.
+ Going to the eye doctor.

What makes you uncomfortable?

Friday's Letters.

Dear Friday, I am so happy that you are finally here! Half a day of work today, a full day of work tomorrow, then I get a day off on Sunday! I can't wait! Dear stomach bug and headache, I do not like you -- I had to take a "sick day" on Thursday because of you! I am hoping that my 12+ hours of sleep has helped, a little..! Dear boyfriend, as soon as my stomach is feeling up to it, you + me + exercise! We only have two months! Dear body, I will apologize in advance, you are going to have some very sore muscles on a daily basis. Don't worry, it will be well worth it! Dear Dakota, I love it when I stop by to visit and you bark as soon as you hear my vehicle, then you run outside to wait for me and whimper until you see me! I miss seeing your handsome face every day! I will try and visit more often!

Campus Book Rentals.

It's hard to believe that I graduated University in 2008 with my Bachelor of Business Administration. Completing my degree was expensive, worth it, but very very expensive.!

Each course I took required me to purchase minimum one to two text books, sometimes even three. On occasion, I was able to save a penny or two by purchasing used text books through the bookstore, but they still cost an arm. Trying to re-sell them through the University's Students' Union was a painful process. Now, I have a bookshelf full of text books that I am never going to look at again! At the moment, they are collecting dust and taking up a lot of space.

I have noticed lately that a number of my blog's readers are currently attending College/University and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do a sponsored post for CampusBookRentals!

Have you heard Campus Book Rentals before? I have done my homework on them and I am quite impressed. Renting your textbooks through Campus Book Rentals is a great alternative to spending all your hard earned money on shiny new textbooks. Plus, by renting your textbooks through them, you will be helping out a great cause too! Sounds like a win-win to me!

Here are a few perks of renting your textbooks through Campus Book Rentals:

» You save 40-90% off of bookstore prices (this is a huge savings!)
» They provide free shipping, both ways!
» You can highlight, underline and write in the margins.
» They provide flexible renting periods
» They donate to Operation Smile with each textbook rented!! (I personally love when companies give back and support charity organizations!)

If you already purchased your textbooks, or perhaps you have some laying around collecting dust, you now have the option to rent those out through RentBack!

RentBack is a new initiative that allows you to rent the textbooks you own to other students ... awesome right?!!! By renting your textbooks through RentBack, you can make 2-4x more money compared to what you would make through selling your books back at the end of the semester.

For more information and to learn more about CampusBookRentals and RentBack, you can also watch the videos below!

PS. I am extremely jealous that both these programs were not available when I was attending University because I could have saved thousands of dollars, yes thousands!
